Welcome Back to INPIRG

By Sydney Hofferth
Chapter Chair, Campaign Coordinator - Democracy

I would like to formally welcome you to INPIRG. We had a great call-out meeting, over 100 people came! (That's the 3rd largest PIRG call-out meeting in the nation!!)

We have a great semester ahead of us with four awesome campaigns - Sustainable U, Agricultural Subsidies, Student Consumer Action Network (SCAN), and Hunger and Homelessness. Here's what our campaigns are working on now:

Sustainable U is in the process of setting up a recycling program for The Villas! We are also compiling and distributing information packets about sustainability to RAs to pass out on in the residence halls. Our weekly meetings are at 6:00 on Thursdays.

Ag Subsidies had a very successful petitioning event to end obesity-causing agricultural subsidies last Friday between Woodburn and Ballantine. You can help out by signing the petition online here! These meetings are at 3:00 on Mondays.

SCAN is planning on hosting a tabling event near Ballantine Hall coming up: they will be distributing fact sheets regarding Textbooks and Renter's Rights! Their meetings are at 5:00 on Sundays.

Hunger and Homelessness had a canned food drive this past Sunday in local Bloomington residential areas. They are also in the process of setting up a free health clinic in Bloomington! Their meetings are at 7:00 on Wednesdays.

As you can see, there are many awesome things going on already that you can get involved in! If you're interested in helping out with a campaign or event, you are always welcome to come to any campaign meetings, they are all located in room 470 of the IMU, just take the elevator by Starbucks.

Hope to see you soon and if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions!
