Now almost finished with the second week of classes, students here at IU are settling back into their daily routine of classes and INPIRG events!
Before classes even started, we talked to over 100 students about the ridiculous price of textbooks and ways we can make the publishing companies make them less expensive. We've already educated tons of people about the simple solutions to global warming with our "Spencer Pratt Loves Global Warming" table. We also surveyed students on what the most common items they forgot when they moved back to school this semester were, and will be taking that information and finding out where those things can be found for the best price right here in Bloomington. We'll be printing a brochure and giving it to all the students here at IU so that they know where to go to avoid getting ripped off! And today we're making Senator Bayh our global warming superhero by having students take pictures with an 8-foot-tall Captain Planet cut-out with Senator Bayh's face on it. We're putting these pictures into a photo album and sending it to his office, showing him that IU students want him to be a champion and vote yes for the American Clean Energy and Security Act! Go out to Ballantine Hall and get your picture taken to help stop global warming!
Coming up tomorrow, we'll be all over campus and downtown collecting spare change to be donated to the Hoosier Hills Food Bank in remembrance of 9/11. The White House has declared this day to be a National Day of Service, and we want to show the support of the students at IU on this day that our generation will never forget. We'll be out by Sample Gates tomorrow from 11-4, so come help us serve the many families in need!
With so much to do, we need a ton of volunteers to help us really make a difference! Come to one of our information sessions today or tomorrow at 11:30, 3 or 6! We're in the IMU - rm 470A. Hope to see you there!
